Privacy Policy — Omit Ad Blocker

Short version

Omit collects nothing. The extension does not phone home, does not transmit your browsing history, does not record what sites you visit, and does not contain analytics. The website you are reading runs no Google Analytics, no Facebook Pixel, no cookies, no fingerprinting. We genuinely cannot tell you what content you are looking at.

Long version

1. Data the Omit extension collects

None. The extension performs all filtering locally inside your browser using Chrome’s declarativeNetRequest API. It does not transmit any information to any server we operate.

The extension stores the following locally, on your device, in Chrome’s extension storage area:

Your enabled filter lists
Your custom rules, if any
Per-site allow/block settings (which sites you have paused Omit on)
Cached filter list data

This data never leaves your device.

2. Filter list updates

On a weekly schedule (or when you click “Update filter lists”), the extension downloads updated filter lists from these third-party sources:

filters.adtidy.org (AdGuard filter lists)
easylist.to (EasyList, EasyPrivacy)
raw.githubusercontent.com (community lists hosted on GitHub)

These requests look like normal HTTPS file downloads. We do not control what those servers log; standard server logs (your IP address, the file requested, a timestamp) likely apply, the same as any other download.

3. Why Omit asks for the permissions it does

declarativeNetRequest, declarativeNetRequestFeedback — to apply blocking rules; Chrome’s native ad-blocking API.
tabs, scripting — to apply cosmetic rules (hiding empty ad spaces) on each page.
storage — to remember your settings between sessions.
webNavigation, webRequest — to detect page navigations so blocking applies to single-page apps and iframes.
cookies — to clean up tracker cookies set before Omit could block them.
alarms — to schedule weekly filter list updates.
management — to detect conflicting ad blockers and warn you.
<all_urls> — required because ads can appear on any URL.

We do not use these permissions for anything other than ad blocking. If you can find a line of code that does, please email us at hello@omitads.com — we’ll fix it and credit you.

4. Data this website collects

This website (omitads.com) does not run Google Analytics, Plausible, Fathom, Matomo, or any other analytics tool. It does not set cookies. It does not use a Facebook Pixel, Twitter Pixel, or any tracking script. Web fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which sets no cookies and has its own privacy policy.

Standard server access logs (IP address, requested URL, user agent, timestamp) are kept by our hosting provider for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention. We do not analyse them and we do not associate them with any user identity.

5. If you contact us

If you email hello@omitads.com, we keep the email until the conversation is resolved. We do not add your email to any mailing list and we do not share it with third parties.

6. Children’s privacy

Omit does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children under 13. We comply with COPPA by virtue of collecting nothing.

7. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially we will update the “Last updated” date at the top and, for substantive changes, post a notice on the homepage.

Because we do not collect personal data, the rights granted under GDPR (access, deletion, portability) and CCPA (do-not-sell, data-deletion) are simple: there is nothing to access, delete, or sell.
